USP in the News

New state regulations have utilities turning to USP for answers

As of January 1, 2010, all new construction in the state of Hawaii must include solar water heating – typically rooftop solar panels that collect heat and transfer it to an indoor storage tank. As a result, USP is working closely with the local gas utility to ensure that contractors and developers can be fully compliant with the new regulations.

In addition to systems for new homes, USP is also offering conversion programs for current homeowners who want to add a solar water heating system.

Back on the mainland, many other states are adopting legislation mandating that utilities reduce their electric generation loads. To meet these new guidelines and demonstrate results to their commissions, electric and gas utilities from coast-to-coast are working with USP on a daily basis. Because of our experience in leasing energy-efficient systems, we can help utilities reduce their loads with minimal financial impact on homeowners. In fact, many households can actually save money by switching to a USP leasing program.
