Public servants and business leaders will discuss the new challenges that cities face in managing the COVID-19 epidemic and how to best face those challenges in a community roundtable moderated by the National League of Cities.
The way cities operate has changed in the wake of COVID-19. How do you keep the utilities running, see to the safety of your employees and residents, hold public meetings in the social distancing era? There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so where do you find resources you need to address your community’s unique problems? How do Public-Private Partnerships fit in and how can you leverage them to help your city?
Join Mike Armstrong of WaterOne; Mike Cully, League of Oregon Cities executive director; Union City Mayor and National League of Cities Second Vice President Vince Williams, Independence, MO, Mayor Eileen Weir; Evansville, IN, Deputy Mayor Steve Schaefer and Master Plumber Doug Lanzo of Lanzo Plumbing in Hackensack, NJ, in a community roundtable, “Addressing New Challenges from COVID-19” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 3, moderated by Timothy Evans, NLC Membership Engagement Manager.
Armstrong will discuss the process of keeping a utility running during a pandemic and Lanzo will discuss how to ensure employees are keeping safe through the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and social distancing. Williams and Cully will discuss aggregating resources and the different needs of cities of all sizes. Schaefer, who is leading the REOPEN Evansville effort, will discuss the state of public meetings going forward, and Weir will discuss Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) and how they can be leveraged to help cities navigate a crisis like a pandemic.
The panel of experts will be available for a short question-and-answer session during the community roundtable.
